Kalevala

This game is inspired by Andrew Spencer’s Ecstatica game and based on The Kalevala epic poetry from Karelian and Finnish oral mythology. I also have visual inspiration from Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s The Aino Triptych and The Defense of the Sampo pieces of art.

Lust-driven wizard “Steadfast old Väinämöinen” got engaged to young Aino, who is not very happy about having relationship with an old man. In passion Väinämöinen follows the beauty and the girl turns to the fish escaping from an annoying admirer this way. It is a very sad story. Please respect other people’s feelings.

In my opinion the ellipsoid graphics is a separate art trend, witch is undeservedly forgotten. In my work I try to imitate this distinctive visual art style. Besides mesh collider’s use in Unity is much easier (IMHO) if characters are made from ellipses.

Väinämöinen wants to sail to another island and tells Aino about his feelings. In game you will help Väinämöinen to build a boat with power of music.
